Die Europäische Dragster Saison ist auf ihrem (zeitlichen) Höhepunkt. Mitte August, kurz vor dem großen Rennen in Hockenheim, den Nitrolympx. Die drei Rennen in Frankreich / Clastres sind durch, es stehen dann im September noch in Santapod die Euro Finals und die National Finals an, ebenso das „Big Go“ in Italien, das Hillsrace in Rivanazzano, sowie evtl. eine Clubsportveranstaltung in Zerbst Anfang Oktober. Am 21.10.2023 ist schon die Meisterfeier der DRU, diesmal vom Knightriders MC in Bad Kissingen ausgerichtet.
Wie lief es bisher?
Supro ET Challenge: Angel Romero und sein Centauros Team haben sich satt an die Spitze gesetzt. Das Spanische Team ist sehr reisefreudig und entdeckungslustig. Neben den Rennen in Clastres und Rivanazzano fuhren sie auch hoch in den Norden (Gardemoen/Norwegen, Tierp/Schweden) um Punkte zu sammeln. In Gardemoen gewannen sie die Klasse. Das bringt ihnen aktuell ein sattes Polster von 85 Punkten auf den Baseler Alain Dürr im Molotow Alfa ein. Dahinter liegt bereits mit über 100 Punkten Rückstand Christian Schneebeli in seinem Betsy Blue getauften Bel Air. Schneebeli konnte das zweite Rennen in Clastres gewinnen. Dahinter sind Franz Aschenbrenner und Robert Gassener, der in Clastres im Finale gegen Schneebeli stand.
Reisefreudig sind einige Teams, Team Aschenbrenner war auch auf einer Skandinavien Tour, ebenso Team Gane. Die splitten Ihre Anstrengungen dieses Jahr auf zwei Klassen. Zum einen Supro ET (sie sind amtierender englischer Meister, DRU Runner up…) und sie wollen auf zu anderen Ufern. Da kommt ihnen die Klasse Pro Street (Skandinavien und nun auch England) sehr entgegen, in der es einen 7.60 Sekunden Klassenindex gibt und Heads up gestartet wird. Da läuft es auch gut für Team Gane, die gesteckten Ziele wurden bisher erreicht. Leider musste Stefan Eisenhauer nach einem Crash in Clastres die Saison (evtl. für lange) beenden. Der Camaro ist doch recht verformt.
Die Pro ET Challenge ist eine enge Kiste. Youngster Magnus Sommer, Sohn von Dirk Sommer, fährt dieses Jahr den Familien „Laturna Motors“ Mopar. Er führt mit 39 Punkten (knapp 2 Rennrunden) vor Janine Petzold vom Team Schumann Motorsport. Magnus gewann eines der Rennen in Clastres, beim nächsten war er in DNQ, nicht einmal im Feld. Da gab es „all sorts of Problems“, die nun vor den NOX behoben sind. Team Schumann Motorsport feiert dieses Jahr 15 Jähriges Jubiläum, auf weitere erfolgreiche 15 Jahre sag ich da mal. Den dritten Platz teilen sich Laurent Levi und Martin Weikum. Levi konnte sich in seinem nostalgischen Gasser auch eines der Rennen in Clastres sichern. Weikum im goldenen Camaro wird sich so kampflos nicht geschlagen geben. Das wird nicht nur in Hockenheim noch spannend. Bring on Hockenheim. Allen Englischen Teams sei eine stressfreie Überfahrt nach Deutschland gewünscht. Team Clark hatte nach einer Odyssee an der Französischen Grenze die Nase voll und brachte ihren Renner nach Hause, um als Zuschauer die Zeit bei den NOX zu verbringen. Das ist sehr schade.
Für die Klasse Extreme Outlaw kommt mit den Nitrolympx das wichtigste Rennen des Jahres.
Sie sind in diesem Jahr zum ersten Mal als offizielle Klasse mit dabei.
Sieben Teilnehmer sind bis jetzt genannt.
Das wird ein interessantes und spektakuläres Rennen.

That will not only be exciting in Hockenheim. Bring on Hockenheim. All English teams wished for a stress-free crossing to Germany. After an odyssey on the French border, Team Clark was fed up and brought their racer home to spend the time as spectators at the NOX. That's a pity.
The Nitrolympx is the most important race of the year for the Extreme Outlaw class.
They are participating as an official class for the first time this year.
Seven participants have been named so far.
It will be an interesting and spectacular race.
